Welcome to the new Sarah Borges website. After touring with my band, the Broken Singles, for the past eight or so years, we stopped to go our separate ways. My husband and bandmate Lyle Brewer and I started a family and we stopped to smell the roses, so to speak.
But it was weird to not have shows to play, and songs to write. So I made another record, out on my own. We recorded in October and November with David Minehan from the Neighborhoods engineering and Steve Berlin from Los Lobos producing. We're halfway through the mixing, and even though I'm biased I think the thing's pretty darn good.
I couldn't have done any of it without fan support. You guys raised over $15,000 to support me and my solo record, and that gave me the confidence to turn a kind of scary new venture into an exciting new chapter.
As a thanks to everyone who gave I'm putting together all of the donor 'rewards', so keep an eye on your mail.
I've got some lovely shows booked for the spring and summertime, and the street date for the record, which now has a title. Radio Sweetheart' will be decided upon soon.
Thanks for checking in, and here's a thing I've been thinking about, it's what Rachel Maddow said in the Vanity Fair Proust questionnaire, and I absolutely agree. She characterized her idea of perfect happiness as 'Loud bar, good band, cold beer, ride home'.
I couldn't agree more.
